Apps banned by the central government have been removed from Google Play and App Store.  There is also a Likee App in this list.  Which is no longer available on Google Play and App Store.  Laiki's parent company BIGO Technology Pte Ltd on Thursday confirmed the official removal of the app by issuing a press release.



 However, the company says it is working on this problem in collaboration with the government officials concerned under local laws.

 Issuing a statement in this regard, BIGO Technology said, "We respect the order of the Government of India, and in view of this, we have temporarily removed the LAIKI app from Google Play and App Store. Whereas, in this case  We will suspend its service in India until more clarity comes in. "

 The company further said that it will follow local law and ensure the privacy and data security of thousands of users of the app in India.  The company said that the Research and Development team of Likee App worked 24 hours to shut down the service.

 Let me tell you, the Government of India had banned 59 apps on the night of 29 June, including the Likee app.  The government has said in its statement that the Ministry has implemented these apps under the provisions of the Information Technology Act under Section 69A of the IT Act and the Ministry of Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and  Considering the nature of the threats, 59 apps have been banned.

 According to the available information, these apps were engaged in some activities that could pose a threat to India's sovereignty and integrity, defense of India, security of the state and public order.


 Likee app was introduced in July 2017 and the app works in 180 countries.  According to company data, the Laiki app received 400 million downloads in India.

 Like TikTok, this app is also a short video mobile app, on which people could view and upload short video content.  In particular, it is identified as a video editing and creation tool, which has more than 1000 video effects.  Apart from this, the Laiki app in India supported 15 languages.
